Hearty Creamed Fish & Cauliflower Bake
Hearty Creamed Fish & Cauliflower Bake: Comforting, easy Middle Eastern breakfast with flaky fish, tender cauliflower, and golden cheese sauce. Ready in under 45 minutes.
Method
-
1
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Lightly grease a medium baking dish or cast-iron skillet.
-
2
Rinse the milk fish, pat dry, and season generously with salt and black pepper. Place on a separate baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and flaky.
-
3
While the fish bakes, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the frozen cauliflower florets and cook for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain well and set aside.
-
4
Once the fish is cooked, (ensuring all skin and bones are removed), then gently flake the fish into bite-sized pieces using a fork.
-
5
In the prepared baking dish, gently combine the cooked cauliflower florets and the flaked fish, spreading evenly across the bottom.
-
6
In a small saucepan, gently warm the Pristine Cooking Cream over medium heat. Do not boil. Stir in the grated Amul Processed Cheddar Cheese until melted and smooth, creating a luscious cheese sauce. Season the sauce with a pinch of salt and pepper.
-
7
Pour the creamy cheese sauce evenly over the cauliflower and fish mixture in the baking dish, ensuring everything is well coated.
-
8
Return the dish to the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling, and the top is golden brown and irresistible. For an extra golden crust, you can briefly broil it for 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
-
9
Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. The aroma of rich cream and baked fish will awaken your senses, promising a delightful start to your day.
For an even richer flavour, you can sauté a small amount of finely diced onions (if using pantry ingredients beyond basic) before adding the cream for the sauce. Ensure your cauliflower is well-drained to prevent a watery sauce. This dish reheats beautifully, making it perfect for meal prepping a quick breakfast throughout the week.
